And he used his acceptance speech to deliver one of the most gloriously defiant moments in the history of American comedy. Standing alongside journalists who exposed Trump administration immigration horrors and prison abuse, a teacher who took on Putin, and documentarians covering Vietnam War protests, Kimmel opened with characteristic self-deprecation: "I've never felt dumber than I do right now, being on stage with this group of people who expose the horrors of ICE, prison abuse, and protests against the Vietnam War, a teacher who took on Putin. I called our president Fatty Shack. And Blob the Builder. And Liger Woods and the Hungry Hungry Hypocrite. Our fondling father, Mara Lardo. Nelson Tandela. And Nostra Dumbass. And somehow we got a Peabody out of that." But then Kimmel got serious — and the room got quiet. "Making jokes about the president in America shouldn't win you a prize," he said. "We have the right, guaranteed by the Constitution, to criticize and satirize our leaders. This is a right that many of us take for granted. It's one that I took for granted for the first 57 years of my life until September of last year when the FCC delivered a very unpleasant surprise." Trump's FCC chief, Brendan Carr, launched an investigation into Kimmel last year as part of the administration's broader campaign to weaponize federal regulators against media critics, leading ABC/Disney to cancel Kimmel’s program, albeit temporarily. But Kimmel said what happened next surprised him even more than the attack itself. "I watched as millions of people, even some from across the aisle, objected. They spoke up. They marched. They canceled their subscriptions to Star Wars because they refused to allow our freedoms to be bulldozed like the East Wing of the White House. You sent a message that we do care and that we will stand up and that we will not stand by when comedy and journalism and dissent are censored and regulated and criminalized." He closed with a list of thank-yous that will live forever: "Thank you to Donald Trump, our commander-in-thief, Abriscam Lincoln, Orange Julius Caesar, Greedy McGolfy, Dopey McGropy, and Pumpkin McPornhumper. Thank you for inspiring us to fight for our freedom of speech." The First Amendment is not negotiable. And apparently, neither is Jimmy Kimmel. BREAKING: Federal court to Defense Sec. Hegseth: bigotry is NOT a military strategy! A federal appeals court just handed Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump a blistering legal defeat, largely blocking the administration from removing transgender service members from the military in a 107-page opinion that doesn't just rule against the policy — it methodically dismantles it and calls out the naked bigotry behind it. The court's language is extraordinary. Trump, the ruling notes, "declared transgender people as categorically unfit for military service explicitly because of their gender identity. To add insult, the President labeled transgender persons as dishonorable, undisciplined, arrogant, selfish liars." Those are not the court's characterizations of Trump's policy. Those are the court's characterizations of Trump's own words. On the Hegseth policy specifically, the court was equally devastating. The Pentagon rule "disqualified all persons with any history of gender dysphoria, regardless of how long ago the person had been stable and symptom-free — even if they were diagnosed as a child." Not currently experiencing symptoms. Not currently in treatment. Diagnosed as a child. Disqualified. Forever. And then the court delivered the line that will define this ruling: "Unless we are going to fall for the old Groucho Marx line — 'who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?' — we have direct evidence in this case that animus motivated the classifications in the Hegseth Policy." Animus. The legal term for unconstitutional discrimination rooted in hostility rather than legitimate government interest. A federal appeals court just found that Pete Hegseth's military policy was motivated by animus — hatred dressed up as policy. The court found the plaintiffs — approximately 4,200 transgender service members currently serving in the U.S. military — are likely to succeed on their claim that the policy violates equal protection guarantees under the Constitution. The ruling blocks the administration from removing current transgender service members while allowing the enlistment ban on new recruits to continue while the case proceeds. "This is a huge relief for these service members and their families," said attorney Shannon Minter. These are people who volunteered to serve their country. Trump called them liars. A federal appeals court called that what it is. The case may ultimately reach the Supreme Court. But today at least, the Constitution won. Please like and share the news of this victory everywhere!

The site launched on April 30th and already 2,716 reports have flooded in. The response has been overwhelming, proving that this is a dire problem that is being sorely neglected by our government. Meanwhile, Trump and his Republican cronies refuse to do anything about the AI data center takeover of our country, even as their own voters are impacted. The only thing that matters to these crooks is inflating the profits of their corporate puppetmasters. The AI question can't be decoupled from our political discourse because oligarchs like Elon Musk are dumping massive amounts of money into AI data centers. Any money they make from these investments can then be rerouted to further corrupt Washington D.C. and empower the fascist MAGA movement. It's a dangerous feedback loop. "The #1 concern continually reported is lack of TRANSPARENCY!" said Brockovich. "Recurring phrases and words included in comments are: silenced, ignored, secretive, back door deals, NDA, not seen and not heard; along with concerns of rising utility bills, sick animals, health concerns and declining property value. One would be hard-pressed to find a more formidable adversary than Brockovich. She famously helped construct a history case against Pacific Gas & Electric for water contamination that resulted in a jaw-dropping $333 million settlement. This is a woman who wins and wins big. Despite a record high for so early in the season — 97 on May 19 — Washington finished the month 1.4 degrees below normal, at 65.8 degrees. Rainfall was 1.09 inches below average, with 2.85 inches tallied. It was the first cooler-than-average month since three consecutive from December to February, and the fourth drier-than-average month in a row for DC. Instead of being dry across the board, there was some variance, thanks to a stretch of 10 straight days of rain that helped ease widespread and persistent drought. Dulles finished May just a touch below average for rainfall, with 4.60 inches compared to a 4.72-inch norm. Baltimore ended a nine-month run of below-average precipitation, tallying 4.39 inches, or about half an inch above normal there. In Washington, the year is running a little more than 4 inches below normal for precipitation.
