I agree with you on the decay element. I would argue however, AI is different from any other technology in scale but not in kind. The Internet democratized scholarly knowledge and learning at the expense of the quality of the scholastic material produced for the Internet. AI democratizes in this case coding at the expense of the quality of the code produced. And yet, decades after the advent of the internet we still have very well-compensated, high demand scholars. I wager that decades after the advent of coding gpts, we will still have well-compensated, high demand, high skill programmers. Technology like this expands availability to the layman and frees programmers to further specialize. Commoners can now build websites, but the wiz kids are building stuff far beyond what previous workforces could have imagined.
In the age of Christian superstars who hover above the local church, aspire to be a boringly normal believer who quietly shows up for church, serves in humble ways, asks for no recognition, encourages struggling saints, and walks one steady step at a time toward eternal glory.
Let automation replace legal labor when the market deems it more efficient. The choice between subsidized automated harvesters and amnesty for illegal migrants is a false dilemma. Legal workers and migrants performed these tasks before and during the border crisis. Enforce the law, but allow a history of success and the free market to dictate the most efficient harvesting method.
