A brief is generic when it's built from the SERP, not from the business. "Cover these topics, target this keyword" tells a writer what the competition already said. A grounded brief starts with what the product actually does, who buys it, and what question it answers that nobody ranks for yet.

The top 10 results for most competitive keywords cover the same ground. "Information gain" is what they all miss. How to find it: PAA questions where no ranked result answers the full question. Comment sections with detail the article skips. Competitor H2s listed but never explained. That's the gap a brief should close — not a longer version of the same outline.

4/5 The fix: force it to reason in two explicit passes. Pass 1 — enumerate what IS covered, citing the actual H1/H2/H3 from the top 5 URLs. Pass 2 — only then identify what's absent. Anchoring to evidence killed the hallucination. Entities sharpened too once I tied them to the same scraped headings.
