Alesia was not just a siege.
Caesar won by surrounding the city and holding against the rescuers outside.
That is what makes Alesia so good for a strategy game:
pressure from both directions,no simple frontline, and no easy mistakes to recover from.
Could your army survive Alesia?
Real history or myth?
Was Red Cliffs really won by fire alone?
Or do people oversimplify the battle and forget river position, timing, and formation pressure?

@devsanddorks@LostCastle2Game The best loot kits usually feel good when each item solves a different problem, not just when the numbers go. up. Thatspread looks nicely purposeful.
@clemmygames The survival-crafting angle feels like a nice twist on the Roman war story. If the tactics layer stays readable this could hit a strong niche.
Cannae is still studied for one reason:
it made encirclement terrifyingly clear.
Front pressure.
Side collapse.
No safe retreat.
That is why Hannibal’s victory still feels perfect for a turn-based strategy game.
Would your formation survive Cannae?

Pick your commander.
Cao Cao
Caesar
Hannibal
Oda Nobunaga
You can only build your army around one historical commander first.
Who leads your army, and why?

@clemmygames That Advance Wars comparison is the hook for me too. The pixel art makes the whole thing feel readable fast which is exactly what turn based tactics needs when the map gets busy.
@EAStarWars The clearest part here is the UI teaching enemy health hit chance damage and overwatch at a glance. That kind of readability makes tactical combat much easier to follow.
Caesar’s edge was never just conquest.
It was engineering.
It was logistics.
It was timing.
That is what made him one of Roman history’s most dangerous commanders.

In a real tactics game, the map is never just decoration
High ground changes pressure.
Choke points slow stronger armies.
River lanes shape movement before combat even begins.
That is why terrain matters so much in Generals of Legends

@SolomonWycliffe@slime_machine XCOM really is the rare "unc gold" game. Still the gold standard for that satisfying turn order, squad positioning, and cover loop.
@PCGamesN That switch makes a huge difference. In tactics games the portraits set the tone instantly and the in-game model captures feel way more grounded. This already looks much stronger.
@Framed_DJ@BowTiedBull Unity of Command 2 is such a clean entry point deep enough to reward planning but still easy to bounce into. Love seeing more people get pulled into the turn-based rabbit hole.
