Serving our 1.2 million customers has been an honor. After a decade, I’m stepping down as LIPA’s CEO at the end of May. Our team’s accomplishments include a record $6.4 billion investment in the electric grid, a 37% reduction in power outages, four credit rating upgrades, a 25% reduction in LIPA’s leverage, the nation’s first utility-scale offshore wind farm, a plan to reduce carbon emissions 70% by 2030, $2+ billion of federal grants, a service provider contract with greater accountability for results, and top 10% employee engagement scores. Discussed the practical implications of an energy transition with @LPPCorg earlier today. An energy transition must be done responsibly, prioritizing reliability and affordability, but there can be wins for both sides of the pendulum.
