When 90% of children diagnosed with Down syndrome are never allowed to be born, the lesson is not that society should feel less shame. The lesson is that society has become comfortable with something that should trouble its conscience. Many things become common. Commonality is not the same as morality. A civilization is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable members, not by how quietly it disposes of them.
90% of people who are told their fetus will have Down syndrome end the pregnancy. Virtually none talk about it. This is common and yet shrouded in shame. I’m not sure piling more shame onto it helps anyone, although I’m sure it makes some people feel morally superior.

You can typically gate check your stroller and car seat (if you aren't using it on the plane) for free. You can also usually check a pack n play for free. Pack a change of clothes for you and the baby. Pack a diaper for every hour of travel. My main advice is that it's not going to be as bad as it sounds haha
I know a guy whose brother was severely mentally handicapped in a car accident as a teenager. I also know a family where one sibling was in an accident that caused brain damage when she was a baby. In both cases the siblings help care for their disabled sibling. In the second case, one of the sisters actually asked to have the sister move in with her a few years ago even though one of the parents is still living and in good health. Because they love their disabled sibling. None of these people are walked all over or abused by partners. In fact, they all married well and have wonderful spouses who also love their disabled family member. Maybe you need to meet more people.
I know a few women who grew up with siblings with down syndrome, and they all put up with some abuse from their partners bc they grew up subordinating their needs to help take care of their sibling This isn’t every case but I think that it applies to the vast majority, and if my

Gentle Parenting would say you - slow down - try to figure out why they are melting down like this (my guess is too tired for this one) - offer some kind of distraction to get them out of the meltdown loop Assuming we have the time, I would either carry him around outside for a few minutes to get him calmer first, offer a snack in the car seat, or put on some music to distract him None of this requires letting your kid walk all over you, or screaming or spanking, just recognizing that your child is very small and is having a tough time and that a car seat meltdown is normal for this age
I couldn’t imagine what it must be like to have a child that acts like this. Is this gentle parenting or does he have some major issues?!
