Oklahoma ranks 35th in the nation for avg teacher pay, with an avg salary of approximately $61,330. The starting teacher salary sits at $41,152, ranking 45th nationally. Adjusted for Oklahoma's low cost of living, the state's real buying power ranking improves to around 29th.

Let’s be real for a second and hold your faux outrage. Yesterday, Trump endorsed Mazzei for governor. For some people, that will make a difference, for others, none at all. Cool, let’s move on to what really matters. No candidate will receive 50% of the vote, meaning you have two votes. Your first vote is for who you want to win, the second vote is for who is left on the ballot in the run-off. Let’s talk about that first vote. Jake Merrick is a solid candidate, but he has zero chance of making the run-off. You have the absolute freedom to vote for him, but what happens next? As an example, let’s say your 2nd choice is McCall or Keating, but not Drummond. Is your 1st choice better served cast for your second choice? Most likely. By voting for your plausible second choice, you have a greater chance of having that option again in the run-off. By voting for Merrick, you deny a vote to your second choice, creating a harder gap for them to advance. So, in this example, your first vote actually helps Drummond. Merrick will not advance to the run-off. Sorry. Again, this is an example, so I’m not going to play out every option to drive home a point: your first vote may lie with absolute principle, but it may cost you a valid alternative when the dust settles. And if your attitude is to then ignore or not vote for whatever candidate(s) is left in the run-off or general, then your lack of voting bridges the gap for Cyndi Munson on the Democratic side.
With early voting starting , I’m going to make my predictions on next Tuesday’s outcome with a +/- 2% margin of error. Mazzei—32% Drummond—21% Keating—20% McCall—16% Merrick—8% Haynes—1% Sturgell—1% Domenico-Tillett—1%

Natives need to bear firmly in mind that if the demographics of this nation wildly vary from the traditional white majority, it won't be some great development for us. It will be the opposite. We share a history with the whites, good and bad, but it's behind us now. The whites like and admire us, and as little as some of us want to admit it, they have helped us enormously. The newcomers don't give a damn about us. We have no history with Pakistanis or Afghans or whoever. They are coming to conquer, that's it. If we don't stand with the whites, we will fall together. As a veteran, I couldn’t care less about the next governor having flown combat missions on his resume. The day that I, an ordinary Oklahoman that wakes up and worships God, loves my family, goes to work, hoping to have a little peace every evening and weekend, need to be moved by that, then something is way off. What’s next? Some veteran talking about flying in a AWACS to mitigate their lack of acumen for State Superintendent?
