Page views ≠ unique visitors. 1,000 page views could mean 1,000 different people — or 100 people visiting 10 times each. Page views = total loads. Unique visitors = actual people. They're telling you very different things.

So stop auditing every page with a high exit rate. Find the journey pages first. Add them to a short watchlist. Then check whether exits there went up or down after changes. That's the whole process.

Exit rate is only a problem metric on journey pages — the ones meant to keep visitors moving toward a goal. On destination pages, a high exit rate is just confirmation the page did exactly what it was supposed to.

A high exit rate doesn't mean the page is broken. It means most visitors didn't go to another page after that one. That's the whole definition. Nothing more.

Conversion rate = the % of visitors who do what you want. Buy. Sign up. Fill out a form. Book a call. 100 visitors, 3 buy = 3% conversion rate. That's it. No formula needed. Just: did they do the thing?

"More traffic sources = better" is bad advice. Most small business sites get 80% of results from 1-2 sources. You don't need to be everywhere. You need to know which channel actually sends buyers — and do more of that. Spreading thin just looks busy.
