California Is Blocking a Federal Audit of Its Voter Rolls California allows first-time voters to register using forms of ID that most Americans would find surprising, including: -Gym membership card -Employer ID card -Credit or debit card -Prescription drug label -Insurance card (California provides free health coverage to undocumented immigrants) Full list: sos.ca.gov/elections/hava… This is permitted when a voter fails to provide a Social Security number or driver’s license at registration. Our office believes this policy deserves a closer look. We also have serious concerns about how California maintains its voter rolls. There are open questions about whether the state is promptly removing deceased voters, people who have moved, and individuals convicted of disqualifying felonies. On top of that, California allows third parties to collect and turn in ballots on voters’ behalf (a practice known as ballot harvesting) with few restrictions. This makes it difficult to track who actually received, completed, and submitted each ballot. For over a year, the Department of Justice has been trying to audit California’s voter rolls. Federal law gives the Attorney General the authority to review state voter files and confirm that only eligible U.S. citizens are voting in federal elections. @AAGDhillon sent California a letter explaining our legal authority. California refused to comply, claiming state privacy laws block the review, an argument that does not hold up because those laws don’t apply to the federal government in this context. We’ve sued California in federal court, and the case is before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. If California genuinely wants voters to trust its elections, it should open its records, not fight to keep them closed. What are they afraid of?

Today, I decided to leave my church. I can't sit through another political sermon where the phrase "White Supremacy" is used again and again, and I'm told I'm not doing enough for the LGBTQ+++ crowd. I want a church that has more crucifixes than rainbow flags and whose bishop doesn't send videos to play about how he protests at whatever the church's politics-du-jour is. And thus, I am no longer a member of the United Methodist Church.

It's the start of GAY PRIDE MONTH. As an older gay man I'm not proud. My generation fought SO hard for assimilation, NOT distinction. WE ACHIEVED IT. We just wanted to have the same rights as anyone else. We wanted equality in the workplace, society, the right to marry, have children, families and be regular members of society after years of indescribable persecution, emotional and psychological damage. WE GOT THAT. No one cared anymore. We won. Future generations destroyed everything we worked so hard to create for FOR THEM. They alienated the public through their ridiculous antics and gender politics to the point that I would not be caught dead at a PRIDE event or associate myself with the rainbow flag, or anything to do with the community they have hijacked. I'm not proud. I'm ashamed. You, spoiled, entitled pink and blue haired little pricks, with no concept or regard for history have annihilated all of our suffering and hard work. Denise- I say this to everyone. The thing that was killing me more than anything else was not the crack it was the vodka. Alcohol is the worst drug of them all. I was drinking a handle a day while smoking crack. It’s the hardest to stop and the easiest to start. It’s the only drug (outside of benzos) you can die withdrawing from. And I know why you drink. You drink because at first it works. Don’t want to feel the way you feel. Well for people like us we know the answer. But you can stop- but rarely alone. Ask for help. Get honest with someone you trust and tell them you need help. We are never alone. I see you. I hear you. The one thing we all have in common is pain. We think we are alone but we are not. I have faith in you. I really do and I don’t even know you. It’s so much better on the other side.
