Microsoft open-sourced an AI Agent Governance Toolkit this week. Zero-trust identity, policy enforcement, prompt injection defense — the whole security layer, not just a checklist. I found this via @VivekIntel. What's notable isn't that Microsoft built it; it's that they shipped it as open source and structured it for runtime enforcement, not audit-time review. That's a different posture than most governance frameworks, which tend to document what should happen rather than block what shouldn't. Meanwhile, the Hermes Agent community is converging on similar concerns from the builder side. @prompterminal surfaced work from the recent jam: DietCode's Zero-Shim orchestrator, agent shadows, task sharding, and safety guardrails. These aren't slides — they're runtime patterns for isolating agent behavior and recovering when an agent diverges. And @TypesDigital posted a walkthrough framing Hermes as a "24/7 AI employee." The autonomy angle gets the clicks, but the underlying point is more interesting: if you're running agents unsupervised, you need the governance layer *before* you need the scale. Shadowing, sharding, and policy enforcement aren't enterprise luxuries when your "employee" is committing code while you sleep. Two paths to the same requirement. One from a vendor with a compliance background, one from builders who've hit the failure modes. Both say the same thing: agent security is infrastructure, not documentation. Worth bookmarking if you're shipping anything autonomous.
