New videos of #DaNang coffee shop trashed by Australian tourist The disturbance began late on May 29 at Gé Cafe (24-26 Lê Hồng Phong, Hải Châu). The man entered, struck up a conversation with a young Vietnamese guy at the next table, then took his phone and refused to return it. Staff called police. Around 12:10 a.m. on May 30, he suddenly took off his shirt and went on a rampage — kicking tables/chairs, smashing a coffee machine, grinder, antique decor, and glass doors with a chair. Customers (including foreigners) and staff fled in panic. When police arrived, he ran upstairs and held another young man in a neck hold for ~2 minutes before being restrained. 🔷 Episode lasted about 30 minutes (per manager). 🔷 He is suspected to be on drugs (“ngáo đá”). 🔷 Earlier that day he was kicked out of his hotel in An Thuong. 🔷 Damage: ~500M VND to the shop + ~70M VND to customers’ belongings (laptops, phones, etc.). 🔷 Café closed for a few days for repairs. No injuries reported. Most visitors are great — a few bad apples are ruining it for everyone. Video credits: TVH News, Gé Cafe CCTV & bystanders #GéCafe #ĐàNẵng #Vietnam
@Carlosa_DaNang He should be made an example of. Other tourists are thinking they can behave however they want. It is going to cost these people to fix their shop.
